About the Eastcape, our community!

Enjoy the East Cape of Baja California Sur! The East Cape region includes Los Barriles and surrounding villages.  Called the "Pearl of the Sea", perfect climate, awesome fishing, and water sports abound here.

If you enjoy big game fishing, the East Cape on the Sea of Cortez is your fishing wonderland. Named "Mother Natures Aquarium" by Jacques Cousteau, the Sea of Cortez boasts the most diverse fish species in all the world! There are many boats and pangas to charter for the day, and the captains and crew will be sure to show you a great day on the water.  The East Cape is also famous for kite boarding, wind surfing and stand up paddle boarding. The many kite boarding schools will have you boarding like a pro in no time.

The East Cape, specifically the small village of Los Barriles, hosts the  Lord of the Winds Showdown in January. Many activities abound around the Lord of the Winds Showdown. Watch the event on the beach and enjoy the many food & beer vendors, as well as others selling their wares. Television coverage by the Travel Channel makes this an even more special time here in the East Cape. Exciting and fun, this is an event you won't want to miss. The weekend of the Showdown hosts live music at the local cantinas along with bon fire "pig outs" on the beach.

Los Barriles, the host of the event,  is a short 45 minute drive to San Jose del Cabo, and about 50 minutes to the exciting Cabo San Lucas.

Want to scuba dive? Close by is the 20,000 year old coral reef, one of 3 living reefs in the Northern Hemisphere, is the marine reserve of Cabo Pumo. Beautiful sea life, specular scuba diving and snorkeling abound here. The Grey Wales migrate to the bay, and if you are lucky, you will enjoy a visit from these gentle giants. Blue whales and Shark whales also visit the East cape region. Whale watching tours and many other activities are also available.

If wind surfing  or  kite boarding,  aren't your thing, take a short drive to the Pacific Ocean side and try your hand at surfing, or just enjoy an afternoon on the many golden sand beaches the East Cape has to offer.

Not into water sports? Ok...take an ATV ride (ATV rentals are available) through the many arroyos here and experience different topography along the way. Take a short ride to the "waterfall" right there in the middle of the beautiful desert, where you can zip line, or just enjoy the coolness of the waterfall and pool it empties into. Go from strange and beautiful sand formations, to huge granite boulders along the way. This is a photographers dream!

Perfect for vacationing, the East cape boasts many beautiful hotels as well as rental casitas, where you can enjoy all the region has to offer.

Golf, tennis, and mountain biking, as well as yoga and other activities are also available for you to enjoy.

Ready to retire? Well, this is a piece of Paradise for you. Reasonable homes for sale, beautiful weather and scenery will make your retirement the most enjoyable you could ever imagine!

Included here are excellent medical services, schools,  banking services, and grocery stores, along with many clothing stores, gas stations, auto parts stores, and just about everything you need!
